Technologically based social exploitation is a fact of life for people around the world in 2026, and is visible in pracically all of it's domains, for the general public, who, for instance, are probably busy watching commercial advertising right now at this very moment, while comparably few of us are reading/thinking about free software. They're even learning about a new technology, called 'a.i.' which proposes to make life easier, augmenting the intelligence of the general public, enhancing it's capability, which, spoiler alert, represents replacing it completely, their most valuable asset and security, their own intelligence, worse, their social intelligence, the kind that takes development and interaction within and amongst our own communities.

\\

First of all, Free software presents a wholesome contradiction to the arguably lawful activity of proprietary organizations. I often find myself patiently explaining to people It's Free! To their absolute suprise and disbelief.

//

Second of all, these organizations possess enormous potential capital, that is based on the lack of awareness amongst the public of free software alternatives. If a thousand people knew similarly, It's Free! That would represent, literally, a thousand less customers to extract profits from.

\\

These are plainly tacit motives, for broadly influential organizations in the world, to seek to subvert the free software movement, and the various projects that follow their example. In other words, these issues are not considered controversial, and set the context of the situation appropriately, so people can begin to comprehend contemporary efforts to subvert free software socially which are mainly deceptive.

//

Typically illicit activity revolves around areas of life that present an opportunity to achieve profit, or some value. In this case, free software represents fundamentally intellectual activity, revolving around the development and utilization of software without a monetary or financial element intrinsicly.

\\

In this unique area of the technological dimension, specifically in regards to Gnu/Linux or the Free Software Movement based on it, we have an atypical area of interest for organized illicit activity. Here, Gnu/Linux presents a negative interest, the exploitation thereof affording no economic benefit directly.

//

Often times we may find that formerly successful Gnu/Linux distributions are shutdown under unclear, and mysterious circumstances, leaving behind skeletal remains, spooky web domains, ancient live cd's, distressed final posts or announcements, even, untimely deaths.

\\

For the living, we find direct/indirect threats, strewn throughout mailing lists, and web forums, false reports of solutions to technical problems approved by strangers, denial of contradictions to those falsehoods, pure misinformation and disinformation, manipulation of posts, editing of text, organized harassment of individuals/communities, banning of people, and really, it seems, basically the full extent of human imagination is exercised in order to socially/technologically defeat Gnu/Linux.

//

Without even touching upon the unique issues facing the groups of developers, and their delegated responsibilities, for the wider group of people attempting to be a part of Gnu/Linux social manipulation is commonplace, the driving forces behind it, shrouded in darkness, shielded by the anonymous nature of technology at all.

No one wants to talk about freedom?

24 hours and no one replies on trisquel.info

This is what gnu/linux looks like for outsiders attempting to join in the various forums/chat rooms for gnu/linux distributions, relentless social abuse and manipulation, which alarmingly suggests, that these systems are totally untrustworthy.

This is why we are here, we are reading gnu.org and fsf.org and it leads us to trisquel.info. Now I was reading this page and it reminded me of what I was writing about.

https://www.gnu.org/gnu/gnu-history.html

"In 1971, when Richard Stallman started his career at MIT, he worked in a group which used free software exclusively. Even computer companies often distributed free software. Programmers were free to cooperate with each other, and often did.

By the 1980s, almost all software was proprietary, which means that it had owners who forbid and prevent cooperation by users. This made the GNU Project necessary."

This is exactly what I'm talking about, it's as if the "owners" are forbidding and preventing cooperation by users. These communities are like a ghost town, and the systems are like a haunted house, and there's no one to talk to about it. We are blamed for the issues, condemned for failing to "follow the rules" and the manipulation never stops.

It doesn't matter what people do. The manipulation, and the deception never stops. It's obvious to those of us who meaningfully try to help others, in contrast to the other people who feign interest in the community.

"bringing back the cooperative spirit that prevailed in the computing community in earlier days—to make cooperation possible once again by removing the obstacles to cooperation imposed by the owners of proprietary software."

this is the ultimate goal outlined on gnu.org, cooperation, and as a newcomer trying to join all of the various front end forums and chat rooms for gnu/linux, for years, my experience has been outlined in the first post above, absolute opposition to the 'spirit of cooperation' and a dedicated effort to manipulate both the community, and even the development process, which I've only just begun to witness the horror of.

This is a complete and total disaster.

We can't just keep recycling the "Post a picture of your desktop" thread guys. At some point, we have to have a NEW conversation about gnu/linux and the reality of the world we're living in at all. And we can't do that by ourselves.

I'm not here just so bots/strangers can use my own words against me, in a dedicated effort to relentlessly manipulate everybody, but to actually talk to real human beings, that are capable of meaningful communication. (to which there is no reply, and collective deafening silence)

Your messages are rather long and difficult to read for me (perhaps because I am not using English in my daily life) while my brain more easily processes concise and clear language. From what I am able to figure out, you are not asking for help using Trisquel, or answering such requests, or making a point about free software. Then you could have more company by posting in the "Troll Lounge".

There have been others like this before.

Ie, they were making messages that were hard to understand, but they usually had enough sense to put it in the troll lounge.

I do agree with you though

Oh I know, theres about 40 people in Trisquel's libra chat irc 24/7, but theyre all too busy to talk to people on the forums.

(faux community)

community is a part of what Trisquel means, and this is a FAUX(FAKE) community. and reading the posts, that stretch back years, it has always been like this, and on the other gnulinux forums. People talk about the same exact, limited, subject matter over and over, and nothing ever changes.
