Did the user with the Chinese character screen name just delete their account?

I was having a conversation with the user with the Chinese characters for their screen name this morning, and now the messages with that user are gone. Another user deleting their account and all their posts?
That person was somewhat active - I wonder how many threads are going to be damaged by this.
In my understanding, when a user delete their account, what disappears is not only their messages but also the whole discussions they initiated, including messages from others.
We often rely on this forum to keep useful information. We should probably spend more time adding useful information to the wiki and to other websites.

That's exactly what happens, and some high volume posters have deleted their accounts that way causing me to lose dozens of posts at a time.
I think I've mostly trained myself over time to write my own dedicated threads when I'm writing about something with a sequence of steps or instructions, and to try not to post steps or instructions as a reply to others. But you can't always avoid it.
I did not interact with this Chinese character user so much, but I'll bet some others lost a good number of their posts.
Usually moderators delete people's posts, and also edit their posts on linux related forums.(to both manipulate their language as well as to drive them away) It's common, widespread, behavior.
Not here. Apparently when a user decides to delete their profile on this forum, they have the option of also deleting all their posts, which automatically deletes all the responses and sub-responses to their posts. At least that's my understanding - I've never tried to delete my profile.
